Excelvan Weather station PDF manual (AOK-5019 model version 02/2016) and mini-review

I own a home weather station (not really) called Excelvan Weather Station like the one on the picture (AOK-5019 version 02/2016). It is pretty good  weather station for domestic usage offering basic information (temrature, presure, humidity) from inside and outside units.

Here are some of its features
  1. Measure & Display indoor & outdoor temperature and humidity with trend, built-in barometer with barometric pressure and history display. Temperature Measuring Range: 0 ~ 50°C (indoor) , -20 ~ 60°C (outdoor).
  2. Selectable channel:1/2/3, gives you the option of polling 3 outdoor sensors with one weather station.
  3. Setting for weather icon, height above sea level and barometric pressure. Five weather icons display: sunny, partly sunny, cloudy, rainy, storm.
  4. Dual alarm setting with 3 selectable channels temperature alert function daily alarms and snooze function.
  5. Large LCD display will simultaneous display of time, date, indoor &outdoor temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, day of the week(available in 7 different languages: German, English, Italian, French, Dutch, Spanish, Danish).
  6. Calculate 150 European cities’ sunrise/sunset and moon rise/moon set time.
After having it for about one year I should mention few things not found in the specs. You

Precision

The precision of the sensors is quite good. I 've compared the data with other thermometers/barometers and hydrometers and are quite similar. I ve also compared its readings with a local (nearby) professional weather station and are also similar. The two units (indoor and outdoor) are not calibrated 100%. Heaving them side by side (in the same room) you
can notice small differences (+/- 0.5 to 1 °C, +/- 2-3% humidity) which is ok of course for its price.

Range

The out door sensor is located in my case on the balcony of my apartment but few meters on the left from the internal unit which means two walls are in the way. Never the less I had no problems concerning  the RF signal. I consider reception adequate for most cases.

Batteries

The batteries (if alkaline are used) both in internal unit and outdoor unit can last for about 10 months. You can also use rechargeable as I do now.  for the record it uses 2xAA (inside unit), 2xAAA (outside unit).

Sunset/Sunrise and moon phase

One reason I chose this weather station over others is that it can calculate sunset/sunrise time for the current day. This calculation is based on the date and the city you are (hens latitude/longitude).

The European cities included in the database for the calculation of sunrise and sunset (and moon phase) are 150 but not documented anywhere. So you have to translate some acronyms (two or thee letters) to decide which city it refers to, only to find out that your city is not on it. Fortunately in my case I used another city at about the same latitude as mine so I got quite similar sun hours but not 100% correct (anyway it will do the job). As 150 cities are not alot,  do not expect to use/enjoy this feature 100%.

Time Sync and time precision

The time should always be precise as it use RF signal (sw band) to adjust it self. I do enjoy the RF time sync (no need to wonder if the time is correct). I had few issues with than as once or two time it did change timezone by its own. I think it uses the outside unit for RF reception (not sure).
If for some reasons it looses sync (does not receive sync signal due to poor batteries or bad reception) the internal clock cannot keep accuracy and quickly (matter of days) could loose some seconds up to a minute or two.

Manual PDF

As I could not find the pdf manual anywhere I decided to make one using the printed one that the box had. Here is the PDF manual of this device in case you lost it (as I did once).
